Chapter one — the name
A seloka is a playful verse. So is a plate of nasi lemak.
We started with one corner shoplot in Meru, one pot of sambal, and one stubborn idea: that nasi lemak deserves to be told properly. Not rushed. Every plate cooked like it has something to say. That's the whole cerita.
And because this is Ipoh, our menu doesn't stop at nasi lemak. Wantan mee, mee kari, roti bakar with telur kampung goyang, and a proper cup of Ipoh white coffee — the local favourites are all here too.
0the sambal simmers before it touches any rice
0the steamer goes on. Santan, pandan, patience
